Local Fishing:

Ice Fishing is DONE!! unless you want to get wet….don’t go….anywhere.  Trolling for Rainbow’s has been producing some fish on the lake.  Look for fish to be stacked near River Mouths.  Rapala’s have been outproducing all other lures.

With last nights rain and 40 degree low, look for fish beginning to stage at the mouths of creeks flowing into Lake Pend Oreille.

Coeur d’Alene River:

The CDA river is fishing okay right now.  The entire river is lower than normal and has been producing a few fish.  Nymphing San Juans, Beads, and bead head Prince Nymphs have been working good.

St. Joe River:

The Joe is fishing well this time of year.  Stick with Hopper/Dropper patterns and weighted streamers.  There is not much Dry Fly action, however, with the warmer weather it should pick up soon.

Kootenai River:

The Kootenai River is flowing around 9500 cfs right now.  This has almost doubled over the last few days.  They will be releasing more water this spring due to the high level of snowpack.  The fish don’t seem to mind!  Fishing has been good on the Kootenai during the heat of the day.  Nymphing is still producing the most fish.  Now is a good time to Target those Bull Trout with some 5-6″ streamers.  Good Luck.

Clearwater River:

Fishing is still very good on the Clearwater.  The Main river at Orofino and upstream has been producing the best.  Bobbers/Jig, Sandshrimp, Beads and eggs are all working very well.

Local Fishing:

Sunnyside is no longer an option for Ice Fishermen.  Two people fell through yesterday….the ice is rotten.  As for the Condo’s it is still fishing well today but look for ice to begin to break up.

Local Fishing:

Ice fishing has been red hot over the last couple days both at Sunnyside and the Condos on Lake Pend Oreille.  Perch are averaging between 9″-12″ and are very hungry right now.  The Clark Fork River has produced its first Monster Rainbow of the Season, 14.5 lbs will suffice on getting anyones winter blood flowing.  Look for fish to begin to move into the river right NOW!!!  Get our there and Good Luck!

 Clearwater River:

The Clearwater River has been fishing great over the last couple days.  Eight fish landed yesterday and 4 fish today in a half day fishing.  Sand Shrimp, Jigs, Eggs, and Beads have all been working very well.  Good luck if you go.  Fishing on the South Fork is RED HOT right now.  Nymphing Beads, Glow Bugs, and Swinging big nasties is working well for Fly Anglers.

Local Fishing:

Ice fishing has once again picked back up.  With the cold weather the ice is back and fishing is VERY good right now.  Sunnyside, Condo Del Sol, and Cocolalla have all been producing lots of pearch.  Size 2 Swedish Pimples w/maggots have been working the best.  The Clark Fork River is starting to fish well.  Fishing below the Dam has been producing some huge lake trout and Bull Trout.  Those Rainbows are just starting to run and fishing will pick up here soon.  Fly Fishermen can find fish right now in the Clark Fork during the middle of the day fishing San Juan worms and Beads.  Good Luck

Local Fishing:

Things are pretty slow around Sandpoint right now.  We are all ready for spring.  Fish will begin to move into the Clark Fork River here in another couple weeks.  Look for the best fishing to be below lightning creek for Bull’s and Rainbows.

 Clearwater River:

Just returned from the Clearwater River last night.  Fishing was pretty good.  We hooked 8 fish over the course of a couple days.  The have been messing with the water levels on the North Fork so fishing has not been as good as it was last weekend.  The Main Fork and the South Fork are fishing great.  Water flows look good and fishing are hitting a variety of plugs, flies and bait.  Good luck if you head down.

Local Fishing:

Look for fishing to pick up on the Clark Fork River during the “heat” of the day.  The big fish out of the Lake will begin to run into the river over the next several weeks, it is always a good bet to try and catch them in the lower river.  Plugs, eggs, large flies, and Glo Bugs/Beads work the best this time of year.

Ice fishing is pretty much coming to a close.  Warmer weather is softening the ice and people are falling in all over the place.  brrrrrrrrrr!!

 Clearwater River:

The river is steadily rising and fishing is good.  Look for conditions to continue to improve over the next few days.  There are lots of fish in the lower river right now, so be sure to give them a look.  Glo Bugs/Beads, and Big nasties have been working for Fly anglers while the gear guys are pounding them on Shrimp, Eggs, Bobber and Jig combos.  Good luck, the roads are clear, the time to go is now!

Local Fishing

People are falling through the ice!!!  Be very cautious, or don’t go out at all.  The ice is thin, dark and has lots of snow and water on top.  Fishing around Sandpoint is on hold for at least a little while.  There are some fish being caught on the lower Clark Fork River below Cabinet Gorge Dam.  Beads with San Juan droppers are producing a few fish during the “heat” of the day.  Good Luck if you venture out.

 Clearwater River

Fishing continues to improve as conditions warm.  Rising water is moving fish allowing them to become more vulnerable.  With a high of 47 degrees today and rain it will be “prime” steelhead weather.

Check out the latest river flows around Orofino:

Local fishing Around Sandpoint, ID

Ice fishing is still producing around Sunnyside, Condo Del Sol and Springy Point.  However, due to the warmer weather and rain, we do not recommend traveling out on the ice.  It is very dangerous right now.

Clearwater River, Orofino, ID

The weather in Orofino has been warming up the last few days with a high of 46 tomorrow and up to 50 on sat. The Clearwater River is now fishing very well.  The ice is off the main fork all the way to Kamiah, ID.  Look for fishing pressure to increase with the warmer weather, also look for fishing to get HOT!!  Bobbers and Jigs have been working for everyone.  Boat anglers have been using Sand Shrimp as well as eggs.  Both have been working very well.  Good Luck!!
