Fishing Report

Fly Fishing on the CDA River was good last weekend.  You can now get into the upper river through Clark Fork, ID.  The water is much higher than normal, however, it is still running clear.  Green Drakes, BWO’s, and Golden Stones were all making there apperence.

Lake Pend Oreille is coming on strong.  Bass fishing has been outstanding all over the lake as conditions warm.  The “Monarchs” are fishing very well for Lake and Rainbow Trout.  Apex’s, Jigs, and Lymans are all working very well.  For the Macks, be sure to tip your Apex with a little piece of night crawler.

IS IT STILL WINTER???? The Lake temp has dropped 6 degrees  and 1 foot in the last three days.  The Bass are once again Slow….Look for them in Pre-Spawn mode all over again.  Fish slower presentations.

Fly Fishing has been consistent on both the Thompson River in Montana and the CDA River in Idaho.  The water on the CDA is high, but visibility is good.  The water temp is around 40 degrees making for some slower fish.  You will usually get only one or two rises out of a fish before he loses interest.  Drakes and Small Stones are fishing good on the CDA, whereas, Salmonflies are fishing well on the Thompson River.  Good Luck and try not to get Fu*king Snowed on.

Fishing Report

Lake Pend Oreille has been putting out some great bass and crappie fishing over the last several weeks.  The Smallmouth are hitting very well right now in 3-12 feet of water.  Fishing Crankbaits and Stickbaits is working very well right now.  The Surface temp is now around 56 degrees.  The Black Ant hatch on the lake is about done, however, you can still find some great Cutthroat fishing around Bottle Bay and Anderson Point.

Thompson River in Montana is fishing very well right now.  Fishing for Rainbows on the Surface with Salmon Fly Patterns and Golden Stone Patterns has been outstanding.

Kootenai River is very high right now and the best fishing is from Libby Dam down to the Highway Bridge.  The Hatches don’t really start untill the afternoon around 2:00pm. The Upper river just opened and fishing beads off of a strike indicator can produce some huge fish this time of year.  Good Luck.
