Fishing Report

Lake Pend Oreille has been fishing very well for Lake Trout.   MegaBait Jigs, Spayid Jigs, and P-Line jigs are hammering large Mackinaw around the Monarchs.  Smallmouth fishing has been good,  the larger fish are moving into deeper water right now.  Jigs, deep diving crankbaits, and Tube Jigs have all been working well.

CDA River is now into it’s normal summer mode right now.  Fishing has been very good on the upper river and fish are spread out throughout the entire river.  Don’t pass up those shallower lies against the bank.  Sometimes they produce the biggest fish.  PMD’s ,Caddis, and Stoneflies are working well.  You can follow this advise for Kelly Creek and the St. Joe as well.

STEELHEAD!!! are in the Clearwater right now!!!  Yesterday’s activities produced two fish on the swing.  The dam counts are looking good with over 400 fish/day coming over the last two days.   Should be a good year.  We have never caught fish this early before.

The Clark Fork River has been fishing very well right now.  Big attractors such as yellow stimulators are working very well when fished along the bank.  There are also a few green drakes, PMD’s, Caddis, and even some hoppers.  Now is the time to get out and hit the Clark Fork.

The St. Joe River has also been fishing very well.  Big dry flies with lots of legs are fishing great.  Golden stones are still flying around so those fish will be looking up all day.

The Coeur d’Alene River is hot right now as well with goldens stones, drakes, and PMD’s all over the place.  This river is fishing better now than it has in years.

Obviously I could go on and on.  Fishing right now is hot.  Get out there to one of the many local streams or rivers and throw big bushy dries to eager trout.  Good Luck

Fly Fishing on the CDA River has been hot.  Fish attractor patterns like yellow stimulators, chernobyl patterns and Royal Coachmen. Terrestrials like beetles and ants can be hot when nothing else will rise fish mid day! Green, Brown and Gray drakes are hatching as well so if you see large may flies around try one of th above. PMDs are also hatching so if the fish are keyed in on the small mays try a challenged PMD or a almost Dun. Also evening hatches of caddis will rise fish. Your standard Elk hair Caddis or EC Caddis in olive or tan match them nice!

Fly Fishing on the CDA River has been stellar.  We have mainly been fishing the Upper River.  Drake and Stoneflies have been outfishing all other bugs.  Stimulators, Parachute Drakes (either Green or Gray) have been working very well.

Lake Pend Oreille has been putting out some serious Mackinaw right now.  Days for 10-20 Mack’s are not uncommon while jigging.  Megabait Jigs either in Chart/Silver or Blue/Silver have been outproducing all other colors and methods.  Bass Fishing has continued to improve.  Smallmouth are very active right now with the water temp in the 60′s.  Crank Baits, Tube Baits, and Jerk Baits are all working great.

Good Luck
