Fishing Report

Filed under: The Fishing Report — fishingreporter @ 1:31 pm

Lake Pend Oreille has been fishing great for Bass and Trout.  The Trash Can Derby is happening again this weekend, for the last weekend of the derby.  Lots of Rainbows are still being caught close to the surface on the right days.  Pink Apex’s, Black/Brown Flies have both been working very well.

Kootenai River is starting to drop and should be very fishable by next week.  I just got the first hand report that fishing is getting good and should be stellar by next week.

Coeur d’Alene River is fishing well.  The water has dropped and the Green Drakes are out in full force on the upper river around 2:00pm  It should be good to fish if you can find somewhere that isn’t getting pounded by lots of people.  The upper river had between 20-30 fishermen last weekend…and there will be a lot more of fathers day weekend so watch out and good luck.

Landon Touching His First Ever Fish (A Kokanee)

The fishing on Lake Pend Oreille has been stellar this last week for just about everything.  We have seen a few stringers of  Walleye coming in from the Pend Oreille River, huge Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, and Lots of Rainbows and Macks.  Trolling on the lake right now has been hot.  Fish are eating anything with Pink in it…especially apex’s either 4.5″ or 5.5″

Yamamoto Senko’s have been slaying both Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass right now.  Topwater Baits are working very well during the evening and morning.  With the surface temps right at 60 on the main lake and in upper 60′s in the sloughs.

The Coeur d’Alene River has been fishing very well for Cutthroat Trout.  Fly fishing is the preferred method and most of these fish are very wiling to eat dries.  Green Drakes, Brown Drakes, PMD’s, and Flavs are everywhere on the water.  The fish aren’t too smart so most any bushy dry fly will catch some fish.

Fishing Report

Lake Pend Oreille is kicking some serious butt right now.  Bass fishing has been outstanding.  With a main lake surface temp of 61 degrees smallies and largies are eating most anything right now.  We did our best on Crank Baits, Jerk Baits, and Yamamoto’s.  We landed around 40 fish yesterday in about 4 hours of fishing.  There is a lot of Pine Pollen on the water making it hard to spot fish but the fish really don’t seem to mind the pollen at all.

Don’t keep any fish caught “downstream” of Bottle Bay right now.  They seem to be having some sewage issues and we spotted several dead Bass, Crappie, and Perch floathing on the lakes surface.

The Coeur d’Alene river is fishing great right now.  Access to the river is opening up every day with the warming weather.
