Local Fishing Around Sandpoint, ID

The weather around Sandpoint has warmed up considerably compared to the past several weeks.  Temperatures are in the 30′s and sunny throughout the day, which in turn is melting some of the ice on the lake.  When you head out there, be cautious of the thickness of the ice and be prepared for anything.  Hot spots lately have been Sunnyside and Springy Point on the lake, as well as Cocolalla.  Perch are being caught by the bucketload with many ranging from 8-11 inches.

Clearwater River, Orofino, ID

Updated 2/11/2008

With temps increasing over the last few days with a high of 46 degrees tomorrow and a high of 50 on sat.  look for water levels to rise and become off color and fishing to pick up especially in the North Fork.  The ICE is now off the main fork,  there is still lots of snow and ice at various boat launches, however, the river is now passible.  There is a lot of snow in the mountains so they will be releasing water early from the North Fork this year.  Bobbers and Jigs have been working well for all anglers.   Eggs and Sand Shrimp have been hammering fish from boats.  It is a good idea to be prepared for changing conditions this time of year.  Layer up!!! and good luck.
